A Great Place To Grow.

Community Perspectives

At Bevan: A Living Workplace, we aim to have the greatest industrial employees on Vancouver Island located here. We are inspired to attract businesses who embrace their staff, want to create healthy workplaces, who truly care for the landscape of the area and overall, and encourage prosperity in their businesses and others.

Acciano recently asked community members how these industrial lands would impact their business or industry.

We greatly appreciate the response we received from these fine folks.

George Hanson- Vancouver Island Economic Alliance, BC

The VIEA has been a strong and vocal advocate for production of goods on Vancouver Island including manufacturing plants, assembly plants, warehousing, distribution and more. They’ve seen a growing demand for industrial space on the island and that ties directly to the importance of the Bevan lands in the Village of Cumberland.

Leslie Dheensaw -Island Savings, BC

Island Savings were first introduced to the Bevan lands industrial project in 2019.  After learning more about the eco-industrial park plans for the site, things began to move quickly. “If something looks like it makes sense on paper then we dive in deeper. And what learned about the plans for Bevan makes a lot of sense” explained Leslie Dheensaw.

Vickey Brown - Mayor, Village of Cumberland, BC

Mayor and Former Village of Cumberland Councillor, Vickey Brown knows a ‘good fit’ when she sees one and is an enthusiastic supporter of smart ideas that will add to the lifestyle of those who have chosen to live in this eclectic community. “Yes, Cumberland has grown,” says Brown, “but we haven’t lost the culture that is so unique to our Village.”

Leslie Baird - Former Mayor, Village of Cumberland, BC

It has been more than 20 years since the lands at Bevan Road were established as industrial properties.  Over the past decade the Village of Cumberland has worked to actualize the land as industrial. And that plan has finally come to fruition. “We’ve completed the Bevan concept plan as well as the Cumberland Economic Development strategy.”

Mike Williamson - Fire Chief, Cumberland Fire Rescue, BC

There are 30 plus members of the Cumberland Fire Rescue department, most of whom are volunteers. They service a much larger area than the Village proper. The Village of Cumberland is celebrated for being in the centre of some of the most beautiful natural lands on the Island. Bike trails, lakes and mountain skiing are minutes from downtown.

Jason Jackson - Hakai Energy Solutions, BC

Hakai Energy Solutions is now the largest solar energy company in BC. But it wasn’t always that way.  When Jason Jackson started Hakai some 10+ years ago, the garage of his home was the warehouse and head office. As demand for renewable energies grew so did Hakai. So they leapfrogged from one temporary situation to another.
