A Good Fit For Cumberland - Vickey Brown

Vickie Brown, The Village of Cumberland

Vickey Brown, Village of Cumberland Councillor, knows a ‘good fit’ when she sees one. She is an enthusiastic supporter of smart ideas that will add to the lifestyle of those who chose to live in this eclectic community.

The Village of

Cumberland has seen a lot of growth over the past 10 years including multiple residential developments.  “Yes, Cumberland has grown,” says Brown, but we haven’t lost the culture that is so unique to our Village.

Those who choose to live in Cumberland are deeply connected to the community.“

Cumberland is well positioned to provide a wonderful life – play lifestyle but has lacked opportunities to work close to home.  “Most people want to work close to home, they want a quality of life that speaks to their interests, their recreational hobbies and of course work-life balance.”

In order to meet the needs of the growing population, the Village of Cumberland Council has taken the bold step in supporting the developments of the industrial lands on Bevan Road.

“It is good to see the

wide variety of native plants, bike paths, retention and planting of trees and natural thoroughfares through out their project.”

Having the additional contribution to the village tax base will allow Cumberland to repair, increase and enhance services for the residents.

Existing businesses will have room to grow and new business, new jobs and new families have opportunities that didn’t exist in the Comox Valley before. “It’s a great fit for Cumberland,” says Brown with a smile.
